The "A" Word...

Adulthood, the word slowly comes out my mouth with pause because there is so much scrutiny that comes along with it.  Though I’m sure I don’t only speak for myself when I say I would love to bask in the glory of childhood once more, the reality is in life you have no other choice but to grow up, and the sooner you accept this realization the better.  As the years come and go, just to name a few, it is distinct when we obtain education, get  involved in relationships, gain experience, grow in knowledge, but when do we actually shape our lives?  At what point do we apply everything we’ve taken in and everything we’ve learned and mold the person that looks back at us from the mirror?

When I stop and think about the past, I admit that some of the things that I wanted at nineteen, twenty are not even a thought in my life today.  Now my yearning is sharper, thoughts are clearer and determination is finely tuned to coincide with the path of life that I’ve chosen to walk.  Tomorrow when I look back on today, I want to know that I welcomed the  challenge of adulthood, and conquered.   Ladies stay motivated, and you shall triumph.

Have a great one!

The Calendar Buzzing of Spring Time

TGIF! And I say that in the most literal sense, cause it’s Friday and our inner voices are all probably screaming, counting down to the punch out times of the work day.  Ladies, the weekend has finally reverted back in to our presence, and what better way to welcome it than to greet the days with open arms.  Though for most of us the weather is still working up to where we need to be, the ever friendly existence of the Spring air has societal calendars buzzing everywhere—plans are being made, and people are stepping out on the scene.   So it’s official ladies, start making plans to enjoy a wonderful spring season, filled with daytime color and glitter of night time lights.  If you’ve never taken time to step into your city, find out what treasures have been sprouting in your own neighborhoods.  Catch up with girlfriends, link up with family and friends, reinstate date night with your other half, but most of all enjoy this time with you.  Jump full into spring, and enjoy the run before a relaxed transition into summer.

Enjoy your weekend!

Make Sure Everyone Gets The Memo!

When you re-evaluate your life you also take a second look at all the people in it.  I’ve come to realize that when you start gaining perspective and transitioning your life to where you want it to be, not everyone will be as supportive of your efforts.  Sadly, you can’t satisfy everyone’s expectations of you.  Make room for the new you by keeping everyone on track with what works for you.  The times of dropping everything for the next person and leaving what needs to be done for your self for later are over.  Ladies you don’t have to shut everyone out, but you do need the right support team that will be positive in receiving your efforts.  One thing that has proven to be eminent in my own life is that when someone is so used to hearing you say yes, they have a very difficult time when you say no.  It’s ok to be of assistance to others, but insert the balance and make sure they understand that support is shifted both ways.  Relationships can feel heavy at times, and cause a person to question there own motives.  Keep in mind, there is nothing wrong with making certain that YOU remain the main priority in your life.

Have a good one!

Your Life, And Every Aspect Of It, Should Be Your Passion...Gamble With Caution!

image via

Ladies, to what extent do you believe in yourself and your ability to succeed?  I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to the probability of putting it all on the line in the name of success, I am not a risk taker. Yes my goals are at the forefront of my dreams and achieving them are my obsessions, but I like to be safeguarded in my quests.  There is nothing wrong with taking risks, but at least have an idea of what kind of gambling odds you’re facing.  Ladies, our lives should be the most precious part of our being; therefore, we owe it to ourselves to make intelligent choices when it comes to our everyday lively hood. We should be both diligent and passionate about the things we would like to see unfold before our very eyes. When you are driven by passion, you see things in the best light; the road of optimism becomes a clear strip in front of you, and the walk towards success doesn’t appear as tedious.  Don’t be so quick to just take the gamble, think of the opportunities you seek and the vision you have worked so hard to get up to.  If the odds show a return in your favor, then by all means roll the dice, but believe in aiming to roll the right numbers.  Don't just believe in the likelihood...believe in you.  Let your passion ignite the fighter in you, and your best work is sure to be the end result.

Life is not easy, and by all means making your dreams come true is definitely a task in its own. The road to success has a lot of road blocks, but that's all they are "road blocks" ....Ladies when there's a will, there's a way, and I know we can find our way around them.  Be strong, stay focused and optimisitic.

Here’s to us all having a very productive week!

The Derivative from the Definitive: Live Every Day Like It Was Your Last!

At best life can be described as a variation of everything complex and everything simple.  The complexities are the things of this earth that we have absolutely no control over, and no matter how much they affect our everyday lives we still have to continue going on.  The simplicities are the innate qualities we put into the world, the aspects that we don’t give much thought to; however, if pondered on can be the easiest way to change our lives for the better.  As our world and everything in it constantly changes, whether it’s for good or bad, be true to yourself and the chance you’ve been given to wake up every morning and face another day.  Be grateful for the fact that you are alive.  Circumstances of life are different for everybody, but in that same breath I can say we ALL have something in common—our choices.  Be wise in your chase for opportunity, for the quotes of our societies remind us of the insinuations that tomorrow is not promised.  Live everyday as it were your last.  Reach for your dreams, conquer your goals, love like you've never loved before, be proud of the person you are and believe that everything is possible.  You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can make the choice to make the best of today.  LIVE YOUR LIFE....it's yours for the taking!

Here’s to hoping you all find strength to face your challenges, and the perseverance to overcome them.  Have a great weekend!

Spoil Me Wednesday: Induldge in Strawberry Cheesecake...Yum!

I love, love, love, love Strawberry Cheesecake!  It's one of my favorite desserts, and I never get tired of it.  The best I have had so far comes from a little family owned bakery in  my hometown  of South Ozone Park (Queens), New York, off of Rockaway Blvd and 126th Street...Stallones!  I mean talk about rich in texture, their cheesecake was definitely the best.  It was aleways the perfect remedy to help me through a "princess" crisis, especially when catered by my Dad.  I love my family, and I am so grateful for all the loving memories.  So in honor of my childhood, today it's me, a slice a cheescake and a book by the pool....total relaxed mode.  Truly, the most enjoyable things in life can derive from simplicity.  Ahhhh, to be a child again, and enjoy everything we want without a care in the world.  Enjoy your Wednesday Ladies!

Past, Present and Future Day Superheroes!

(image via)

Today is International Womens Day, and it marks the celebration of 100 years of  achievements from Women all over.  Ladies, I can't imagine living in a world where we had  no rights, no voice, no opportunities.  No hopes for our goals and dreams to be accomplished; no place for our strides to be triumped.  Today, I can only be thankful to all the Women before us who fought the battles to free the paths of opportunity, so that we can make our way down them.  Ladies, we are  modern day super heroes; although some may beg to differ, we do so much on a daily basis that hardly ever gets recognition.   We assume so many roles, and wear so many hats and a lot of times we don't have any other choice but to do so.  My wish is that we all continue to put our best foot forward, and maximize all the opportunities that have been afforded to us.

Ladies you ROCK!!!!

Enjoy your day!

Bouncing Back From The Curveballs of Life

I haven’t posted in a few days because I needed some time to myself.  Time to reflect and re-evaluate some things in my life.  I also needed some rest and relaxation cause I felt like my mind was on overdrive, and it just felt like my anxiety levels were on Empire State Building high.  I just decided to pause for a minute, and happy I made the choice to do so.   Sometimes we can have so much going on in our lives, that there is nothing else to feel but overwhelmed; nonetheless, I’m happy to say that I am feeling better, ready to retake my path with a refreshed view and cleared mind.

Ladies, I think it’s safe to assume that we all know life is unpredictable.  You may be on a path designed specifically to fit your plans, and wake up one morning and that same road you’ve been walking has been reformatted by life. What do you do?  Do you just give up the goal, or do you find a way to continue walking towards it?  It is always easy to just give up, but in the end that’s just not the feasible answer; instead I would encourage you to pause, think about the new design, and push forward.  YOU are your main support, and everything else is structured around you.  Life is what you make it, even with inevitable circumstances.  I know it's not easy, but try and stay focused. As I’ve said before and will continue to say, you’re dreams are just as important as everyone else’s.  Don’t let the cards you’ve been dealt in life discourage you from realizing your destiny.

Have a great day!

Spoil Me Wednesday: Haiti...Kaliko Wishes & Wahoo Bay Dreams

First off, CONGRATS to Nadiene the winner of our 1st IFTL Giveway - a Victoria Secret gift card valued @ $25! Yayyy!!!  Hope you're out there buying something for yourself today :-)

Lately, I have really been craving some Bernie time on a beach in Haiti.  Just laying back, with family and friends, enjoying the water, music, scenery, drinks and food.  Haiti in itself has been through so much in the last few decades, and although the aftermath of the 2010 Hurricane finds most of the capital city in rubble, the Country still has so much beauty to offer.  Most of what you see on TV is just a portion of the land.  Yes it's true the country is poverty stricken in aspects of the people, but the riches exhibited in the beauty of the land still remains and is as breathtaking as ever.  I have witnessed the splendor of this Country with my own eyes, and I can definitely tell you it's a wonderful experience.  There is way more to Haiti than just these beaches, but for today hope you enjoy the pics of two of my favorite places!
